We only print 150 of each card in this range, which consists of 10 individual illustrations. Each Card comes with an embossed and numbered artist’s stamp, as well as a signed artist’s certificate.
The Kurces range consists of selected prints from the hand bound illustrated novel by the same name. The subject matter deals with ‘cursed’ people, who, due to the nature of their disability, could not make a living outside of circus displays.
Using the ‘side-show freak’ phenomenon as a metaphor for society, these works question the concept of ‘normality‘. By placing them in everyday situations, these characters highlight the absurdity of the ‘us / them’ relationships that we create in order to confirm our own identity. Quirky yet intelligent, Kurces celebrates diversity of age, colour, race and culture that is our world.
